Governor appoints local attorney judge
November 27, 2007 - 11:12am — Mark Olson
Gov. Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Janet L. Barke Cain to a new First Judicial District trial court bench judgeship in Carver County. This judgeship is one of seven district court judgeships created by the 2007 Legislature that take effect on Jan. 1, according to a governor’s office press release. Cain is an assistant Carver County Attorney and head of the juvenile division. She has been an assistant Carver County Attorney since 1994, and has also worked in the civil and criminal divisions of that office. The move will mean another big change in the Carver County Attorney’s Office. The county board recently appointed James Keeler to fill the vacancy created when former attorney Michael Fahey became a judge in the First Judicial District. Two other veteran attorneys - former Chief Deputy Kari Myrold and Bob Hendricks, head of the civil division - departed shortly after Fahey left.
