The filing period for county and state offices closed Tuesday.
At the state level, incumbent state legislators Joe Hoppe, a Chaska Republican, and Paul Kohls, a Victoria Republican, will face Democrat challengers. Evan Rapp, a Chanhassen resident, filed for the District 34B seat currently held by Hoppe. Marcia Krueger, of Norwood Young America, will challenge Kohls for the District 34A seat.
In Carver County, there also will be a contested race for the District 4 seat on the County Board currently held by Tim Lynch, of Mayer. Former commissioner Paul Neumann has filed for the seat.
Carver County Commissioner Tom Workman, who represents Chanhassen, will run uncontested for re-election this fall.
There are also three soil and water district positions up for election this year.
In Soil and Water District 1, which represents Chaska, Chanhassen and Carver, incumbent commissioner Ted Beise is running unopposed.
Incumbent judges Kevin Eide and Michael Fahey have filed for re-election to their First Judicial District seats.
The filing period for city of Chaska council positions runs from Aug. 26 to Sept. 9.
The following Chaska seats are up for election this year: mayor (a two-year term from January 2009 to 2010); Ward 2 councilor, four-year term from January 2009 to 2012; and Ward 4 councilor, four-year term from January 2009 to 2012.
