City administrator picks up Klein award
May 8, 2008 - 11:11am — Mollee Francisco
Chaska City Administrator David Pokorney was presented with the George C. Klein Award last month at the annual Chaska Rotary banquet last month. The Klein Award is given to individuals that display service above self in the community. Pokorney, who has been city administrator for 24 years, was recognized for his outstanding leadership in Chaska. “Dave’s pride and commitment to Chaska is unparalleled,” said presenter and former Chaska mayor, Bob Roepke. During his tenure as city administrator, Pokorney has overseen the construction of the Chaska Community Center, the gas turbine power plant, the creation of The Lodge, the Chaska Town Course and other major projects. “Dave’s involvement in the community goes well beyond performing those duties as city administrator,” said Roepke, highlighting Pokorney’s work with the 100 Club, Christmas in May and the Chaska Rotary. “There is no question that Chaska would not be where it’s at … without Dave’s leadership. -Mollee Francisco, staff writer
