Local florist in bloom

Annette Hentz, owner of Carver Country Flowers & Gifts in downtown Carver is participating in the 2008 "Art in Bloom" show at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

Hentz selected “Temple Woods,” an oil on canvas painted in 1882 by Max Weyl, as her design inspiration. Her floral creation is displayed in the Impressionist area on the third floor of the museum, in front of the painting.

Art In Bloom is celebrating its silver anniversary at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts this spring. The four-day festival of fresh flowers and art is presented each year by the Friends of the Institute. This year the event is May 1-4.

Twin Cities floral arrangers are invited to select an inspirational work of art from the Institute’s collection, create a floral interpretation of that piece using fresh flowers and plant material, and display their design next to the original art work for the public to view.
