Rolling back and forth in a wheelchair in her cozy room at the Good Samaritan Home in Waconia, Gertrude Miller twitches her shimmery-pink polished nails as she contemplates this year’s presidential election.

Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd, buy me some peanuts and a wedding ring?

That may not be exactly how the song goes, but it’s just how Ross Peterson and Katie (O’Connell) Peterson’s wedding went when they exchanged vows at Athletic Park in downtown Chaska earlier this month, on July 5.

A Chaska man remains in critical condition following an altercation early Wednesday morning.

Police found 32-year-old Kirk Thomas Anderson injured and non-responsive when they responded to a call at Bayview Circle in Brandondale around 1:46 a.m. on Aug. 6. Anderson was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with "head injuries as a result of being struck with a blunt object."

According to a press release, a 16-year-old who lived at the same residence was arrested and is currently in custody pending formal charges.

The High 48s

The High 48s, a bluegrass band from Minneapolis, roll into Chanhassen tonight for the final installment of the Summer Concert Series.

Music begins at 7 p.m. in City Center Park. The series is sponsored by Klein Bank.

Katelyn Rambow knows her way around the Carver County fairgrounds in Waconia. She’s been taking part in the fair as long as she can remember.

Whether it’s showing her champion sheep that her family raises on their Gotha hobby farm; checking out the diaper derby or pig races during the fair; or working this summer getting ready for the 2008 fair, Rambow is well versed in all things related to the annual county get-together.

On Aug. 16 and 17, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum will present two popular summer events – the 26th Annual Arboretum Flower and Garden Show, co-sponsored by the Federated Garden Clubs of Minnesota, and the Minneapolis Men’s Garden Club’s Food, Flower and Foto Show. 

The shows will take place in the Oswald Visitor Center’s MacMillan Auditorium from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. both days and are free with gate admission, according to an Arboretum press release.

The Chaska Cubs had to top Shakopee on Wednesday to have a chance at making the state amateur baseball tournament.
