A new Indian restaurant opened in Chaska today. Spice Up is located adjacent to the Best Western Chaska River Inn and Suites. For more information, visit www.chaskaspiceup.com.
The Mushroom Ressoli was dry and didn't have much flavor. * D *
The garlic naan and keema naan were delicious. * A *
(though they messed up and only gave us one order of keema naan but charged us for two. If you get take-out, check your order to make sure everything is there before paying.)
The broiled scallop curry was a disappointment. The scallops were overcooked and very dry on the outside, and there was very little curry sauce. In addition, the portions were small. * D *
The rice that came with the scallop curry had an odd taste that I haven't encountered before in any Indian restaurant. It might just be a spice combination I'm unfamiliar with, there are thousands of variations in Indian cooking. I didn't like the rice at all, but I won't grade it because I'm not sure what flavor they were going for, it's something you'd have to try yourself to see if you like it.)
The raita was delicious and reasonably priced. * A+ *
Though overall I found the meal to be overpriced and disappointing, the restaurant is very new and sometimes there are kinks to be worked out when starting up a new place, so I'm withholding final judgment until I try them once more. I'll post my review here.
