The Chaska Town Course has been selected to marshal hole No. 1 at Hazeltine National Golf Club for the 2009 PGA Championship.

The Town Course is currently seeking a minimum of 96 and a maximum of 122 volunteers for marshals on the hole.

The event will be held Aug. 10-16, 2009 and Aug. 17 if a playoff is needed.

All volunteers must meet the following criteria:

- Should have knowledge of the game of golf and an understanding of the rules.

- Able to see and stand for long periods (up to 5 hours) in hot weather.

- Must be able to commit to at least four 5-hour shifts. If 122 volunteers sign up, only three five-hour shifts will be required.

The Town Course is also looking for two Hole Captains. The Hole Captains are responsible for scheduling the marshals on Hole No. 1 and for managing the marshals on Hole No. 1 during the tournament.

The Hole Captains will divide their responsibilities so that at least one is able to be on site and working with the hole marshals at all times.

Each Hole Captain will be asked to work about 35 hours during the Championship and approximately 15 hours prior to the Championship attending meetings, scheduling marshals, etc.

Each marshal will be asked to pay a $180 Volunteer/Uniform fee. For this fee, the Marshal will receive a complete uniform, which includes a shirt, bottoms and a hat. Each Marshal will also be given a Volunteer Badge, good for admission all seven days of the event (Aug, 10-16, 2009), complimentary off-site parking and shuttle service to the event, a PGA Journal, food and water vouchers, as well as admission to the Wannamaker club.

Anyone interested in marshaling should send an email to jkellin@chaskamn.com, stating interest in volunteering, or in being a Hole Captain.

All interested volunteers will receive a
link via e-mail in early May to officially register online.
