Justin Whitten, 11, directs traffic to his family’s garage sale on Arboretum Way on a blustery Saturday, during the annual Jonathan Festival of Garage Sales. Whitten had some motivation – he was trying to sell some of his toys, which included Mousetrap and Monopoly Jr. games and “Spiderman stuff.” What’s he into now? “Sports,” Whitten replied.

Back on Hundertmark Road, Adam Hoxie, 12 (and 364 days), and Ethan Loosbrock, 13, were standing on a snowy street corner holding signs advertising food inside St. Andrews West Lutheran Church, which organizes the annual sale. “Ridiculous,” Hoxie said, describing the weather. “Crazy,” opined Loosbrock.
