The annual Chaska Rotary Gala is 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27 at Oak Ridge Conference Center. In addition to presenting the George C. Klein Award to a community volunteer who exemplifies “service above self,” the Rotary will also recognize three other organizations for ongoing commitment to Chaska.
This year’s event is a “wonderful twist on our traditional dinner-dance, which has been hosted by the Rotary for more than 30 years,” stated event chair Michelle Kraus.
Community Bank is sponsoring the event. “It’s a celebration of community,” said Community Bank Corporation CEO Jeff Burzinski. “It’s the type of celebration and the type of venue we think are significant to the community – both its history and its future,” he said.
Guests will have a cocktail hour, hors d’oeuvres, sit-down meal – complete with a bottle of wine for two and dessert – silent auction and a dance with music by local DJ “2 The Max.” Katie Blomquist and State Rep. Joe Hoppe will emcee the event.
Gala proceeds will go to the Chaska Fire Department to equip vehicles with advanced GIS equipment. The new “Pictometry” equipment provides immediate and more effective address/site location throughout the community.
“Chaska Fire is excited about the chance to upgrade to Pictometry technology. It will give us more information faster, allowing us to do our job better and keep the city of Chaska even safer,” stated Blair Malmgren, assistant fire chief. The fire department will provide matching funds toward the equipment purchase.
Event proceeds also go to the Ridgeview Medical Center, to help fund landscaping around the new Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice Home on Lake Bavaria.
“Ridgeview cares for and about the people of Chaska, and we are grateful for the generous support of the Rotary and greater Chaska community,” stated Robert Stevens, Ridgeview president & CEO.
