The Minnesota Renaissance Festival holds its Highland Fling this weekend, Aug. 23 – 24. In addition to the traditional bag pipe, visitors can watch the World Amateur Highland Heavy Games and the Minnesota Amateur Highland Heavy Game Championships, according to a Ren Fest press release.
In addition to the World and Minnesota Amateur Championships, the Festival will host the Minnesota Coalition of Scottish Clans, The Celtic Croft, The St. Andrew’s Society and many other local Scottish groups.
The Minnesota Renaissance Festival’s thirty-eighth season ends on Sept. 28. The Festival is open weekends, Labor Day and a special day for schools and seniors on Festival Friday, Sept. 26. The Festival is open from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., rain or shine.
\The Festival is located three miles south of Shakopee on Hwy. 169. Admission at the gate: Adults $19.95; Children 6 – 12 $10.95; 5 and under are free.
