Delfeayo Marsalis, a renowned trombonist and jazz musician from New Orleans, will headline the
Community Foundation for Carver County’s first-ever Celebration of the Arts.
Marsalis and four other accomplished musicians will perform in a 90-minute Jazz Concert on Friday, May 15 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waconia, according to a press release.
Prior to the evening concert, Marsalis will conduct a clinic with high school jazz band students from across Carver County.
According to the press release, while introducing Carver County to the New Orleans’ musical experience, the Foundation’s goals are to:
* Use music to bring people of all ages together, inspiring connections and community building activities;
* Establish an Endowed Arts Fund that will benefit our region for years to come;
* Offer a student workshop in support of musical education and as an example of Endowed Arts Fund in action;

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and Marsalis is expected to take the stage at 8 p.m. Area high school jazz bands have been invited to provide entertainment leading up to the concert.
