Guardian Angels recently handed out big checks to two scholarship recipients. Raul Mejiaborja and Jose Acevedo are the two recipients of $780 each.

The scholarship name is Avanzando Latinos, which means Advancing Latinos. That has two meanings, of course: that the Latino community is advancing, like past immigrant groups, in large part because of education (both in our parochial school, and the public school system, and in college). And it also means that scholarship seeks to help Latinos, individually, through assistance with scholarships.
