Cologne power outage May 17
May 14, 2008 - 1:59pm — Mark Olson
Residents of the city of Cologne and some surrounding areas will experience a planned power outage form 4-8 am on Saturday, May 17, according to an Xcel Energy press release. The reason for the outage is to upgrade the voltage capacity that feeds the city with electricity, the release stated. Due to load growth, specifically south of Cologne on the south side of highway 212, Xcel Energy will be increasing the voltage to serve the load. To complete this work, some equipment has to be changed out, which will result in the outage. The entire town of Cologne will experience the outage, as well as the new housing development south of Highway 212 and some homes just south of the development, the release stated. A handful of customers east of Cologne, out to 134th St., are also in the outage zone. All customers who will be affected by the outage have been notified. Customers who have questions about the work, should contact Xcel Energy designer Sherry Stovern at (952) 470-3358. In case of inclement weather, the work will NOT be completed and a makeup date will be rescheduled.
