Here is a summary of the meeting from last Thurs:

--80%+ of the people wanted further exploration of a better alternative. We didnt' want to hurt nbhds in Chan, but we didn't think either alternative worked.
--task force said they had done all they could (yikes)
--board expressed shock at the comments.
--board voted unanimously for Prop1. Motion didnt' take 2 minutes.

Ridiculous. I wish they could be held personally responsible in 20 years, but they won't and they will long be gone and forgotten. They have with their haste destroyed the camaraderie of D112, and done damage that will last for years.

Funny how they can still allow the busing of elementary kids to balance diversity, but they can't look at better options for the high school.

The next time a bond item comes up, I will vote no, unless the specifics are laid out in advance. Suckered once. Not twice.

I thought my Chaska property

I thought my Chaska property taxes went to pay for schools within District 112; furthermore, I thought my Chaska children attend District 112 Schools.

One of the factors that brought us to Chaska 8 years ago were the excellent schools.

So now that ONLY Chaska kids go to Chaska, Chanhassen goes to Chanhassen, where, or where will Carver, East Union and Victoria go? (Rhetorical question, I know the answer)

I have spoken with a few Chanhassen home owners and those people have come to the conclusion that this is THEIR school and that they do not want to include Chaska (or its diversity, low income and food program recipients - none of which our children participate in) within THEIR school.

I would like a refund of my property taxes! Oh never mind; my property value will drop so fast, this should suffice as my refund!

Superintendent David Jennings was directed by the school board, at Thursday's meeting, to continue with planning for 6-8 grade middle schools.

So, are there any students, parents or teachers out there who are seeing a greater divide between the haves and have nots at Chaska High School?

Drugs and alcohol aren't

Drugs and alcohol aren't just societal issues, they are every day issues for kids from the time they can think for them selves, mommy has a glass of wine with dinner, and daddy has a beer when we BBQ on 4th of July and other days. Bars are all around us people drinking on tv in movies etc. Drugs are in front of us daily every day I see commercials for drugs with side effects that can lead to death yet are FDA approved. If a kid see some drug advertised on TV to help with some problem that's approved by the FDA and is legal yet is dangerous enough to kill what's going to stop them from getting some marijuana or cocaine or any other drug for that matter and either using it or selling it? Drug rehabs are full of abusers who probably started using at an early age or were exposed to it.

I'm on edge about this. I can see how it would be a great addition to Chaska and give jobs to people but I'm more concerned about traffic. The stretch from Hundermark/41 and down past Engler Blvd / 41 is a traffic nightmare. You add another 7000 cars to the area and Chaska will be so congested wiht traffic. We already got 5 schools within a few miles from each other and Chan highschool is coming up real fast. You add those and this new proposed school and the new 312....you got a real headache. I miss quite old Chaska.
