Kline won the award with a score of 73 broken clays out of 90, hitting 81 percent of his targets, according to a press release from his office.

Sen. Norm Coleman sent a statement related to Romney's decision to suspend his presidential campaign:

“I want to thank Governor Romney for his commitment to his nation and his party.

"His participation in this historic election gave a strong voice to conservative ideals that I believe will be carried forward by John McCain.

"Americans recognize that our future economic security rests with national security, and John McCain, better than anyone else in this campaign, recognizes this reality.

"Mitt Romney deserves the thanks of Republicans and Americans for his steadfast belief in the future of our nation.

"It is clear that Republicans will be able to, very soon, rally around the candidacy of John McCain and begin presenting his positive vision for a country in which people can work together to move our nation forward."

Romney is halting his presidential campaign, according to various media reports.

What do you think this means to Carver County GOP voters?

On Tuesday, straw poll voters overwhelmingly chose Romney over the next closest competitor, John McCain, by a 759-266 decision. (Huckabee received 210 votes).

Attendance at DFL precinct

Attendance at DFL precinct caucuses in Carver County was nearly three times greater than the previous attendance record, according to estimates by DFL Senate District 34 Chair Joe Casey.

Casey said more than 2,500 people voted at the DFL caucus sites.

Barack Obama received 1,656 votes in the presidential race and Hillary Clinton received 836.

At Chaska Middle School West, 706 Chaska and Carver residents voted at the DFL sites. Obama received 451 votes to Clinton’s 251.

At Bluff Creek Elementary School in Chanhassen, where Chanhassen and Victoria residents attended precinct caucuses, more than 1,300 people cast ballots.

Chanhassen DFLers supported Obama 772 to 280 for Clinton. In the Victoria precincts, Obama received 132 votes to Clinton’s 62.

(Thanks to Chanhassen Villager editor Richard Crawford for this information)

EVERYONE in Washington DC

EVERYONE in Washington DC knew that Richard Armitage was the leak from the beginning of this bogus scandal! It's that type of phony inside baseball that makes regular people loath to get involved in politics.

This example, plus a nine year old example: a President who's own Justice Dept prosecuting 4 regular Americans for lying in federal court about a sexual affair, all the while he's using "it's only sex" as his defense, has created a country of cynics.

Why won't those with barrels of ink print the story behind the story? A political agenda perhaps?

This Republican Convention

This Republican Convention 2008 logo is so lame.

Could they do better? Yep.

Here's a few of the Minnesota State High School League's state-tournament logos from the past couple seasons.

There are three things out

There are three things out of sync with the newly unveiled logo for the 2008 Republican National Convention:

                                                                                            1. The elephant has racing stripes.

2. The color associated with the Republican Party is RED. This elephant is BLUE.

3. The elephant is rearing up. Elephants only do that when they have sex.

The convention is being held about seven miles from the airport where Larry Craig was arrested for soliciting sex in a bathroom.

OK. Not my words. Keith Olbermann's. And everybody is lol'ing.

Is this really the logo?

The star in the eye of the 'triumphant elephant' reminds me of the Xs that would appear in the villains' eyes when the good guys got 'em. Not an image a political party would seem to want to portray.

I have a collection of campaign buttons from the 70s and any of them would be better than this.

Compare the above logo with the 2004 logo from NYC...

Where's Richard Armitage?
We now know that he was the one that actually leaked the info to the news media.
Why hasn't he been charged?
To go after Libby because he was confused on what he said over a year ago (or lied?) plus refusing to go after his old boss (Cheney) is no reason for 30 months.
Why hasn't someone in the national press asked the special prosecutor why is leaving Armitage alone?
In the end, we've spent millions of dollars to convict a guy who lied,(or was confused?) but didn't actually break the national security law.

Ok, I get it - he thought that the prison sentence was too long. Bush also didn't pardon Libby, so he'll still have a two year probation and the fine (a hefty $250,000 - though I don't know what Libby's pulling down either) as well as have the conviction remain on his record.

Still, aren't we to hold our top political figures to the same standards as normal people? Libby went through the legal process just like anyone else would, and the ruling was made for him to go to jail for 30 months. Do you think Joe Average (it's all I've got - go with it) would have gotten his sentence commuted for the same crimes? I sure don't.

Excessive? Perhaps, but that was the ruling. If the President of our country isn't going to follow the legal system in place, maybe it's time to look at an overhaul.
