9 bucks for a burger, 4.50 for fries! No way! Too expensive. We actually got up and left when we saw the menu. So did our neighbors! I think there will be another business in there shortly!

A trip on the 261 would be a great way to celebrate Minnesota's 150th and the railroad's significance to our state's history and commerce. Hundreds of train enthusiasts took rides on the 261 as part of the City of Cologne's 125th anniversary in 2006. Riders boarded near the lakes in Minneapolis and traveled the 261 - with many 'photo op stops' like this one - along the way. Additional riders boarded in Cologne and traveled to Glencoe before making the return trip. The sound of the 261's whistle echoed for miles - I can almost hear it yet today!

MIX = GYP We went there for

MIX = GYP We went there for lunch too but found $2.50 for French Fries and $2.95 for a Coke a little pricey for New York City much less Chaska. Mr. Pullis is trying to get his investment back in a big hurry. Sorry, we won't be back.

What do you think about this public art piece? How does it compare to the other pieces installed around town?

We went there for lunch

We went there for lunch today, and LOVED it. I had the Goat Cheese, Roasted Red Pepper, and Herb omlette, and the better half had the pastrami sandwich.

I loved the omlette, with its creamy goat cheese and perfectly roasted peppers. The 7-grain toast needed something (perhaps a touch of butter), but the avocado and tomato garnish made up for it!

The better half liked the pastrami, but thought it would go better with rye bread. The focaccia was too tough for the pastrami, even though the meat was very savory.

We shared the hand-cut fries, which we both thought were great. The paprika aioli was a great accompaniment to the tender, double-cooked fries.

We didn't get dessert, but the cake doughnut bread pudding and apple crisp were very tempting, and we're looking forward to the next visit.

The service was fantastic, and we were in and out in less than an hour. We're looking forward to our next visit!

Eric Sevareid, a Minnesota

Eric Sevareid, a Minnesota journalist icon, inspired the pair's trip with his book "Canoeing with the Cree." The book chronicled a 1930 canoe trip to the Hudson Bay that Sevareid took with another teenager.

The timing of their trip is appropriate, since Sevareid was recently honored with a U.S. postage stamp: www.usps.com/communications/newsroom/2007/sr07_043.htm

My paternal grandmother lived to be 102 and, when she died, the funeral director said she didn't look a day over 70. Some people just age better than others -- I'm hoping I take after my grandma!

"The person Rep. Hoppe is talking to in your front page picture is not a lobbyist - he's the Chair of the House Bioscience Committee, Rep. Tim Mahoney (St. Paul.) Lobbyists are not allowed on the floor of either body of the state Legislature."
