And then there was one girl

And then there was one girl left. Who would have guessed it would be Syesha? Brooke departs and the four remaining contestants have six days to gear up for Rock N Roll Hall of Fame night - whatever that means.

Innocent mistake, I'm sure.

Innocent mistake, I'm sure. Paula can't be expected to take notes and dance after all. Perhaps she got her doodles mixed up - it could happen to anyone, really.

I think Brooke has a shot at

I think Brooke has a shot at becoming a singer/songwriter. She has a nice timber to her voice and she plays guitar and piano very well. I'd like to see her writing and singing her own music, maybe then she'd seem more sincere than cheesy. I think she's just very uncomfortable on stage and that makes the audience uncomfortable, but I thought she did an amazing job on "I am, I said" last night. That's a difficult song to sing, much less play piano and sing.
Jason Castro is my least favorite. Last night my husband said "that guy couldn't even take third place in a talent show in Brookings, SD. What is he doing on American Idol." I really don't get his appeal either. He sits and strums his guitar (not even that well) and sings quietly into the mic. I've never been impressed by him - there's just no big talent there.

Come on! Isn't anyone going

Come on! Isn't anyone going to mention Paula's little snaffu. She started commenting on Jason's second song before he even sang it. Paula said "The second song, I felt like your usual charm wasn't — it was missing for me. It kind of left me a little empty." It sure did. She had the whole cast feeling confused and scrambling to cover for her. You can read the MSN article on Paula and watch the clip here ...
I really thought my head was

I really thought my head was going to explode during David A.'s performances. Perhaps the second performance would have been more tolerable had it been a David A./KLC duet. Very touching.

Here's how I'd like the aftermath of AI to shakedown. David A. can win and quietly fade into oblivion like so many other AIs. David C. can finish wherever and go on to have a successful career with his talent. Syesha can go on to be a Broadway star. Brooke can go back to nannying and singing lullabies (I love her to bits, but I don't see her cutting it in "the biz"). And Jason can go back to doing whatever it is he does.

Did anyone see that they are looking to revamp AI next year? Showing the auditions as flashback, retooling how much the judges "banter," changing how much they use Seacrest (I'd vote for less), etc. Drama!

I have to chuckle at your arm waving comment. My husband absolutely hates the arm waving, and during "September Morn" he said, "There's not even a beat to wave to!" I had to remind him that there was, indeed, a beat somewhere...they just weren't waving to it.

Another good week for David

Another good week for David Cook - his bread and butter seems to be starting out sort of slow and quiet and really driving it home in the course lines.

Jason Castro doesn't seem to care anymore - but that won't stop people from voting for him. On a side note, did anyone else notice that during his second performance, the audience arm waving was getting out of control? I realize that the audience will wave their arms, but could we *please* do it in time with the rhythm of the song?

I think Syesha has the biggest chance of going home seeing as how she's got the smallest fan base and it's a little too late to start wooing voters from their favorites.

American Idol: More Diamonique than Diamonds

Wouldn't it have been fun to be watching this episode of American Idol with Neil Diamond tonight? If I were him, I would have had a good chuckle over how safe my catalog was. "Ha ha, nice try Archie. Love the flag!" "Oh yeah, that's gold Brooke - you could have been one of the Monkees." "Why don't you change forever in blue jeans to forever in polyester Castro?"
