Worth going back!

The owners are listening. I've eaten at MIX a few times since it opened. During that time, prices have dropped, service keeps getting better and the food remains far better than other area restaurants. Had the New Orleans Shrimp on my last visit - and wanted to lick the sauce off the plate. Wine list is a good value and bottles are chosen with care. Best casual restaurant in the West Metro. We love that it's not a chain.

It is such a treat to finally have a locally owned, family run restaurant in the western suburbs! If you're looking for delicious food at a fair price near home or work, Mix is it! I've been there for several lunches and dinners, often with my young kids. I've found it consistent, clean and friendly.

The menu offers something for everyone. My favorites are the fish n chips, turkey sandwich and the omlette. The kids love the mini-hamburgers and fries. For dessert, a caramel banana malt or the decadent chocolate pudding really hits the spot. Did I mention the amazing mojitos, my new favorite drink?

The addition of crayons to keep the kids busy is great! And there are other nice touches like fresh flowers in the bathroom.

We went to Mix yesterday for dinner and enjoyed it. We had the pot roast, fish & chips, and three orders of mac & cheese. We started with the calamari. My wife and I liked the food but it is too expensive for us to go very often. I liked the wine and beer choices and the kids LOVED the homemade mac & cheese. Our bill for 2 adults and 3 kids was $76. I hope Mix lasts, but my fear is that the prices are too high for Chaska - especially since it is "comfort" food and not fancy "chef" food. I like it and will go back, but not very often.

I went to MIX on Friday. The prices seemed a bit lofty for it to be called a "diner". The food quality is far above the fare of what a diner would serve and the portion sizes seem to signal us that bigger isn't always better. Time will tell, though, if the initially high prices build a customer base.

I haven't been to the MIX yet, but I plan on going! Just because I live in the burbs doesn't mean I don't want great food in my community. I am glad they are here. I look forward to writing a review after my first visit.

It's not a "gyp" (wow- can we be more culturally insensitive?). The food is excellent. If you want a $2 burger, you can get one at McDonald's. But, your McDonald's burger will taste like it cost $2.

Maybe MIX isn't in the right location for the kind of food and atmosphere it provides. Chaska needs more family-oriented, family-priced dining options. Maybe a restaurant that catered to family dining would be more successful there. But, I like having a place in town where we can go for date night, so I'll keep going to MIX as long as it's there and it's serving great food.

By the way - it's not really any more expensive than Ruby Tuesday or Pauly's.

9 bucks for a burger, 4.50 for fries! No way! Too expensive. We actually got up and left when we saw the menu. So did our neighbors! I think there will be another business in there shortly!

MIX = GYP We went there for lunch too but found $2.50 for French Fries and $2.95 for a Coke a little pricey for New York City much less Chaska. Mr. Pullis is trying to get his investment back in a big hurry. Sorry, we won't be back.

We went there for lunch

We went there for lunch today, and LOVED it. I had the Goat Cheese, Roasted Red Pepper, and Herb omlette, and the better half had the pastrami sandwich.

I loved the omlette, with its creamy goat cheese and perfectly roasted peppers. The 7-grain toast needed something (perhaps a touch of butter), but the avocado and tomato garnish made up for it!

The better half liked the pastrami, but thought it would go better with rye bread. The focaccia was too tough for the pastrami, even though the meat was very savory.

We shared the hand-cut fries, which we both thought were great. The paprika aioli was a great accompaniment to the tender, double-cooked fries.

We didn't get dessert, but the cake doughnut bread pudding and apple crisp were very tempting, and we're looking forward to the next visit.

The service was fantastic, and we were in and out in less than an hour. We're looking forward to our next visit!

Mix to open in early May

Mix New American Diner may be open in the next few weeks.

Chef/Owner John Pullis said that the restaurant is hoping to open in the first week of May or “sometime before the 10th.”

The restaurant will feature upscale versions of diner classics.

He’s currently working on all the final details, hiring some staff and adding another coat of paint and awnings to the exterior of the building, which has undergone extensive renovations since it was Bobby K’s Embers.
