I hope Paula was trying to be funny when she jumped up and started dancing along to that guy's song. Otherwise, I'm afraid she may have lost some of her choreography skills. Or maybe it's one of those sayings - those who can dance, those who can't choreograph!

While not a lot seems changed so far, there did seem to be a lack to Simon's usual venomous bite tonight. At least from what was shown, instead of tearing people down he just dismissed them (with a few exemptions).

As far as lowlights, the guy dressed up in skimpy Princess Leia garb (you know the outfit even if you don't really like Star Wars) was awful. He got his five minutes of fame, but I'm sure he didn't get any laughs - just groans.

I'm crossing my fingers for some good ones this year - last year was a bit lopsided.

Welcome back Idolheads. It's been a long eight months since we last discussed the ups and downs of American Idol and here we are again, ready for more of the madness. Buckle up!

The 2008 auditions kicked off in Philadelphia where throngs of people waited for a chance to claim their 15 minutes of fame. This year, Idol producers promised some changes. Did we see them tonight? No, not really, but I wasn't expecting much change in the audition format. After all, this is where even Idol haters can tune in for a good, entertaining laugh.
