I made it a point to hear

I made it a point to hear what the "all new Love 105" sounded like because I enjoy a good old-fashioned train wreck. While Drive 105 wasn't everyone's cup of tea I will go on record as saying that I liked it. It was more palletteable than The Current because it was a bit more mainstream and I left my indie credibility at home with my hula hoop. I will instead listen to the air around me with Drive 105 gone. Heck, a loop of Celine Dion dragging her fingernails down a chalkboard while she sings a cover of an old Carpenters song would sound downright plesant compared to the newest format on 105.

I also stopped listening to

I also stopped listening to Drive 105/Cities 97 when the Current launched, and never looked back.

It seems that stations haven't had any real staying power on the 105 signals. Remember Zone 105? They played alternative rock back in the late 90s, I think. The stations had another transformation (oldies, was it?), and then the alternative rock with Drive 105 again. It's kind of sad to see it go, even if I don't listen anymore.

Love 105 sounds a bit scary though; I'm not exactly eager to give it a try. Heh.

With Cities 97, I guess

With Cities 97, I guess there was only so much U2 and REM that could be squeezed onto the metro airwaves.

For the most part, I quit listening to both when MPR launched 89.3.

Drive 105, previously an alternative-rock station, recently switched format to become Love 105 featuring love songs from the 60s-80s.

Have you heard it? What do you think?
