Down with dollar coins?

This week the U.S. Mint started rolling out its newest dollar coins. This collection will feature the Presidents of the United States. The Mint is hopeful that the new dollar coins will be as popular as the state quarter collection but Americans have traditionally steered clear of dollar coins in favor of the dollar bill. TELL US: What do you think? Will this new collection of presidential heads convince you to carry dollar coins in your change? Will you collect the coins?

Back to page topThese are destined to be another taxpayer-funded collector's item. The idea that people, strapped down with the "modern conveniences" such as a cell phone, iPod, PDA, laptop computer and a debit card have any space left for a weighty metal coin worth a lousy buck. Remember that a dollar is the new nickel and I am sure I'm not alone being a person that rarely even carries cash.
