Condom vending machines could be installed in Brazilian schools as soon as next year, according to a story from Reuters.
Brazil's health ministry is pushing for the plan to increase condom distribution in the name of AIDS prevention.
According to the article, some schools have been offering free condoms and sex education for more than a decade already. The ministry hopes that vending machines would allow for greater distribution.
A recent UNESCO study done in Brazil found that two-thirds of parents surveyed "like having the government offer teenagers free condoms and sex education."
The study also found that "45 percent of students aged 13 to 19 already had an active sex life and that 60 to 70 percent had used condoms to protect against unwanted pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases like AIDS."
The ministry would also like to install condom vending machines at all bars, clubs and 24-hour gas stations.
SOUND OFF: Would you support the government offering teens free condoms and sex education?

I would be all for the...
Back to page topI would be all for the availability of condoms and actual sex education in schools but as much as America bills itself as an advanced nation, it is truly sexually respressed and is continuing further down that path.
Parents, for the most part, seem to put off talking to their kids about sex and say education lies on the backs of the schools and then vehemently object to sex education when they find out about it in their child's school.
