It's been, what, 40 years now since the writers' strike began? Well, maybe not quite that long, but it feels like it.
In any case, it looks like the end is near as writers appear ready to ratify some new contract terms and get back to work. We may even get a few new episodes yet this season.
So what shows have you missed the most? How have you coped with the rerun/reality television juggernaut? Have you turned off the TV completely or focused your attentions on cable? Have you found new shows in the interim?

Who Cares? Even if they go...
Back to page topWho Cares?
Even if they go back within a week, most shows may get only a few episodes in for the season.
I've found that the longer they stayed out, the less I missed the new shows.
I even found other things to do that didn't involve watching tv.
The only good thing about the writers strike ending is the end of most of the reality shows.
I swear, one is worse then the other, and yet they get people tuning in every night.
Hey people-get a REAL LIFE!
Finding better things to do...
Back to page topFinding better things to do with no TV?
That reminds me of that one Simpsons episode, "Itchy and Scratch and Marge," from season 2, episode 1, where .... oh, forget it.
"57 channels and nothin' on"...
Back to page top"57 channels and nothin' on" was a minor hit for Springsteen back in 1992. With the top cable or satellite package, I think you can now get 300 channels...still with nothin' on.
High definition, 5.1 surround sound, state-of-the-art production values of...what? "Scott Baio is 47 and needs a job"?
Television was not heading in the right direction even before the writer's strike, and it has gotten worse in the interim. I'm not holding my breath that the returning writers are going to make "Must-see TV" again anytime soon.
This is where my DVR comes...
Back to page topThis is where my DVR comes into play -- I still haven't watched the final three episodes of "Medium" from last season and we have oodles of other shows "taped" that we've slowly been watching and deleting.
We actually have DVRs on two TVs and, normally, both are holding shows into the 80th percentile. I noticed one is down to 53 percent and many of the shows that are newly recorded are from the Food Channel -- experiments in cooking are replacing real TV for us.
Saturday Night Live is...
Back to page topSaturday Night Live is reportedly set to return on Feb. 23 with Tina Fey hosting. I have so been missing their sassy political sketches during this heated presidential race. Hopefully, the time on the picket lines will have fostered some good material.

Yay! "The Office" is set to...
Back to page topYay! "The Office" is set to return April 10 for six new episodes. I'm dying to see how they work with Angela's real life pregnancy. I've seen some photos and she definitely has a visible baby belly. If they use it in the show, will Dwight be the daddy or Andy???? Yikes!
