I have a cold and it's a doozie. You know the sort that makes you totally miserable with a nose that vascillates between being runny and stuffy, a sore throat, a head that feels like a block sitting on top of my shoulders and a cough that sounds like I've been a four-pack-a-day smoker for all of my 28 years on this Earth. Is that too much information?

In any case, I am surrounded by Kleenex, cough drops and any cold medication I can get my hands on. If I called my grandmother right now, she'd insist I gargle with salt water. Forget that that remedy purportedly only works on sore throats - it's her favorite. I swear, she yearns to tell people to gargle salt water.

What other cold remedies are out there? Do you have a tried-and-true cure for the common cold (aside from taking a baseball bat to the head)? Please share.
