I'd like to see Chaska get a few restaurants that Chanhassen doesn't already have. Don't get me wrong, Buffalo Wild Wings is tasty but Chaska and Chan seem to have far too much overlap as is. My question is why hasn't anyone put in an Olive Garden out in this neck of the woods? Maybe not Chaska but the nearest one is Bloomington. Seems like a natural fit for Eden Prairie at least.

Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday's, Champp's, Houlihan's and Pauly's all kind of seem the same. And is it a state law now that restaurants like these have multiple TV's going?

Someone mentioned Wendy's in their response and it was my understanding that Wendy's had expressed interest in building in the new business development at the corner of HW 41 and Engler. Then I heard that the City thought that this would create too much traffic as most of Wendy's traffic is drive-through.

What I fail to understand, if this reason is really true, is why one of the largest gas stations in the area (with at least 30 hoses) and a large daycare center were allowed to come into this development -- both which clearly have just as much traffic, if not more, than a Wendy's would generate.

We need variety. I was happy to hear that Arby's would open in the shuttered Hardee's location and that Ruby Tuesday's will open soon (if it has not already) and sure, these are not local restaurants, but they do provide opportunities for local jobs and they offer something besides pizza (unless it was something like a Pizza Ranch that offers something more). I also feel that competition is always good - it makes us all sharpen our pencils and try to provide better service.
