Would you wake up at dawn to see The Dark Knight?

Seems midnight showings are no longer good enough to satisfy fans of the latest installment of Batman. Theaters are adding 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. showings of "The Dark Knight" to their schedules to meet demand.

A good book

The last installment of Harry Potter doesn't come out until July so what are people reading in the interim?

Do people even read books anymore? If so, make your must-read recommendation here.

My book club just read "In the Lake of the Woods" by Minnesota author Tim O'Brien. The murder mystery keeps you on the edge of your seat and references Minnesota landmarks. The story is written from the perspective of a Vietnam soldier who suffers post-traumatic stress disorder.

It's a dark novel, but I found the images of war and the confusion surrounding combat and death compelling.

Not exactly a substitute for Harry Potter, but it's a good novel.

Last summer I read Chaska native Shannon Olson's "Welcome to My Planet: Where English is Sometimes Spoken." It's a hilarious romp around the Twin Cities with special emphasis on Chaska.

It's a fun read and I got a kick out of her references to local landmarks and people. Her mother Florence Olson was a city councilor for many years in Chaska and is the highlight of the book. I couldn't help but look for parts of that kooky character when I met the real Flo last year.

Are there other books with local or regional ties worth reading?
