Back to page top"Stardust," written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Charle Vess, is a great fairy tale for adults. I'm all about imagination and beautiful dresses on fairies! Gaiman is probably better known for his "Sandman" comic book series, as well as the novel "American Gods."
Other, more serious, graphic novels I like are, "Maus I: A Survivor's Tale: My Father Bleeds History," and "Maus II: A Survivor's Tale: And Here My Troubles Began." Written and illustrated by Art Spiegelman, the books tell the true story of Spiegelman's parents, who were imprisoned in Nazi concentration camps.
In a similiar nonfiction vein, Marjane Satrapi wrote about and illustrated her upbringing in Iran, after the Islamic Revolution in Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood," and "Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return."

Back to page topI haven't read any of Neil Gaiman's comic books/novels.
I did see his movie "MirrorMask," which had some of the most creative visual elements I've ever seen in a film.

Back to page topI'm not a comic book kind of gal but I absolutely loved the movie adaptation of Daniel Clowes' comic "Ghost World."
