It was teeth-grindingly bad news for Packer fans Thursday morning as the team announced a deal to trade long-time quarterback Brett Favre to the New York Jets.

Favre announced his retirement in the spring only to change his mind as summer training camps appeared on the horizon.

Now, Favre will start the season in green and white instead of his usual green and yellow (the New York Jets Web site is already offering a Favre replica jersey in Jets colors).

There’s been an inordinate number of Chaska graduates who have gone pro in the past year:

Yesterday, a good friend and neighbor was walking his dog (a black lab puppy being trained as a service dog) next to my home when another dog attacked. The attacker was not on a leash - his owner was using Jonathan Common Property as a personal dog run. The attacking dog crossed the street, entered my property, and attacked the puppy.

This is why we have leash laws in Chaska. You are not allowed to exercise your dog off-leash on public property. The City of Chaska ordinances, Chapter 5, Article II, Division 1, Section 22 states:
"Confinement of animals.

Well this is it. As I write this, I am smack in the middle of my last work day as a single woman. Yikes - even reading that back sends a shiver through my spine.

Yes folks, the time has come to get married. All of the plans are in place. The caterer has been paid. The DJ has our song list. Flowers are waiting to be tastefully arranged. And our dining room is overflowing with presents.

Chaska Herald advertising representative Jeff Engstrom is a man of many, many hidden talents. Among them is his acute mechanical skills.

As a child, I had fantastic imaginary friends. By fantastic, I mean out of the ordinary – there were wise green girls from Mars, strong, black-eyed Amazons – and a single Dove woman, with gentle eyes and wings woven from branches.

I was often called imaginative, but it wasn’t meant as a compliment. It was meant in a “reality-is-calling, get your head out of the clouds”, kind of way. It was meant to discourage me from believing in the impractical or impossible.

The countdown is on. By the end of this month, Chad and I will be married. That's not to say it's all smooth sailing between now and then, though. The real grunt work still lies ahead.

This past week Melinda finally finished the vocals on her CD! All thats left now
is the mastering, mixing, and the photoshoot. If all of that happens quickly then we can expect to see her CD on shelves this Fall! Also, keep your eye out for her first official single that should be hitting airwaves in the coming weeks. Melinda is going to be throwing a lot of music at us in the coming months so get ready!
